Twenty Dirty Hands invites you to join us the second weekend in October. Tour the beautiful Galena countryside, enjoy the fall colors and visit some of the area's best know pottery and sculpure studios - open just for this weekend with special exhibits and events, allowing visitors a unique view of their kilns, forges and workspaces.
The artists of Twenty Dirty Hands are bound together by a love for life in the small towns along the Mississippi River. As friends and colleagues for many years, we have shared meals, music, studio spaces, kiln building projects and a way of life. Our work is constantly evolving, and we pride ourselves on displaying our newest and best pieces on the tour. We hope you will visit each of us at our studios and galleries.

Menominee Wood Kiln Site.
The two creek-side wood fired kilns are a departure from high-tech firing. These kilns are labor intensive, and are stoked continuously for 2 to 7 days. The beauty of wood-fired pots is revealed in random and subtle flashing from flame, ash and salt vapor. Ron, Doug and Steph will all exhibit wood-fired pots along with work from their electric and gas kilns. Throwing demonstrations using an old kick wheel will be offered throughout the weekend. (The kilns will not be fired during the tour this year, but will be open for your viewing.)
